Faith | S1 (symbolyc one)
POWER - KANYE WEST
There are so many talented artists trying to make a name for themselves, the noise can be overwhelming. So how do you continue to wake up everyday and create music that may never be heard by the world? It comes down to certainty. An unwavering faith, that the art that you create will find the right home. This faith is something producer S1 lives by.
On an ordinary Sunday in San Antonio S1 and his family sat down for lunch at a local favorite when S1 got a phone call from a private number. For some reason he decided to answer instead of letting it go to voicemail. He picked up and a voice said, “Hey, this is Kanye West.” S1’s knee jerk reaction was, “Nah, who is this for real?” The voice on the other end repeated, “This is Kanye West, someone sent me a beat you produced. There’s a plane ticket for you at the airport, your flight leaves in four hours. I’m about to change your life!”
Stunned, S1 told his family and left before the food arrived. The flight was to Hawaii where Kanye was working on his album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. While in Hawaii S1 and Kanye created a 4:52 song entitled Power. The song became the debut single and the catalyst for the sound of his entire album.
Certainty | Joseph Angel
LOVE ON THE BRAIN - RIHANNA
When it comes to art sometimes the hardest part isn't the creation, it's the patience to navigate the road to success. The journey of the song Love on The Brain with J.Angels unbelievable circumstances really enforces the idea of certainty.
When songwriter Joseph Angel wrote the song Love On The Brain, Rihanna and her team instantly knew how special it was and Rihanna recorded her vocals on the track immediately. Although she recorded the song quickly and it was said to be on her next album Anti, J. Angel heard nothing about the track after she recorded it and sat with radio silence for almost an entire year. Despite hearing nothing about the song, J. Angel knew he created something special and the world was supposed to hear it with Rihanna’s voice. Three weeks before Rihanna was scheduled to release her album Anti she internally announced that she was uninspired by her current album and decided to scrap the entire project and start over. Every producer and writer on the project was understandably devastated. Despite this announcement, J. Angel was still convinced that Love On The Brain was going to make the album. Unfortunately at the same time, he had just been diagnosed with cancer, and his funds had completely run dry causing him to live out of his car. At many points J.Angel worried he would not live long enough to see his song get released into the world. Months later Rihanna completely redid her album and replaced every single song except for one, Love On The Brain.
Even though it was the only song saved from the original project, the record labels didn't think it would become a huge song, so subsequently there was no music video and almost zero budget for the push for the song on radio. Despite the circumstances, the song organically rose higher and higher on the charts until it broke the top 10 on Billboard. It became abundantly clear that this song had a life of its own, and the world was moved when they heard it. Love On The Brain has been streamed over 350 million times on Spotify. In the United States, the song reached number five on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her 22nd top-five single breaking her tie with Elvis Presley as the artist with the 5th most top-five singles, and it was also her 30th top-ten single tying her with Madonna and The Beatles as the only acts in history to appear at least thirty times in the top-ten of the Hot 100. Love On The Brain is currently considered Rihanna’s best vocal performances of her career. J.Angel is currently in remission, and instead of living in his car has a few parked in his multi car garage.

This show is about art and the creative process and we see each episode being a piece of art in and of itself, containing highly curated surrealistic and imaginative details painted with relatable narratives and inspiration.

Visual
Approach

We plan to use VFX and unique in camera effects to bring each creative process to life visually as the songwriters and producers build sonically. Essentially, we will show the internalized process of the creator in an external way.

By tapping into the unique essence of our creatives, each episode will differ in feel depending on the subject, location and type of music they make. We plan to use an original score with curated VFX to demonstrate the internalized creative process of each subject.

The score will be all original, sonically intriguing and feel very custom to the series. It's important for everything about the show to feel like it's one of a kind to further reflect the uniqueness of the different writers and producers.
