Every story is
powerful
We all know the power of channeling your pain into art, but what is that process really like? Songwriter Mozella's story is an example of the personal narratives we look forward to sharing. Listen as she explains a piece of her journey that lead to writing Wrecking Ball for Miley Cyrus.

Certainty | Joseph Angel
LOVE ON THE BRAIN - RIHANNA
Joseph Angel’s journey with Rihanna’s Love On The Brain is a powerful reminder that sometimes the hardest part of art isn’t creation, but having the patience and certainty to endure the road to success.
When J. Angel wrote Love On The Brain, Rihanna and her team immediately recognized how special it was, and she recorded the vocals almost right away for what was supposed to be her upcoming album, Anti. Then… nothing. For nearly a year, he heard complete radio silence. Still, he remained convinced the song was meant to be heard in Rihanna’s voice.
Three weeks before Anti was scheduled for release, Rihanna decided she was uninspired by the album and scrapped the entire project to start over. Writers and producers were devastated, but J. Angel still believed Love On The Brain would survive. At the same time, he had just been diagnosed with cancer and had run out of money, forcing him to live out of his car. There were moments he feared he wouldn’t live long enough to hear the song released.
Months later, Rihanna rebuilt the album from scratch and replaced every song except one: Love On The Brain.
Even then, the label didn’t see it as a major hit. The song received almost no marketing budget and never got an official music video. But it took on a life of its own, climbing organically into the Billboard Top 10 and eventually becoming one of Rihanna’s most beloved songs and vocal performances.
Today, Love On The Brain has hundreds of millions of streams and helped Rihanna break historic chart records alongside artists like Elvis Presley, Madonna, and The Beatles.
J. Angel is now in remission — and no longer living out of his car, but with a few parked in his garage
faith | S1 (symbolyc one)
POWER - KANYE WEST
There are countless talented artists trying to break through, and the noise can feel overwhelming. So how do you keep creating music every day when there’s no guarantee the world will ever hear it? It comes down to certainty. An unwavering belief that the art you create will eventually find the right home. That belief is something producer Symbolyc One, known as S1, lives by.
One ordinary Sunday in San Antonio, S1 was out to lunch with his family when he received a call from a private number. Normally, he would have ignored it, but for some reason he answered.
“Hey, this is Kanye West.”
S1’s immediate reaction was disbelief. “Nah, who is this for real?”
The voice repeated, “This is Kanye West. Someone sent me a beat you produced. There’s a plane ticket waiting for you at the airport. Your flight leaves in four hours. I’m about to change your life.”
Before the food even arrived, S1 said goodbye to his family and headed to the airport. The flight took him to Hawaii, where Kanye West was creating My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.
Together, they created Power, a track that became the album’s debut single and helped define the sound of one of the most influential records of its generation.

each i write songs episode introduces us to the inspiring story of a songwriter or producer and the song that changed their lives forever. These stories reveal the incredible ways the power music transforms the lives of a songwriter, the recording artist and the world.

ACT 2 | HARSH REALITY. We see the songwriter forged in the fire of personal challenge, whether that’s family drama, personal tragedy, or just the grind of a 9 to 5.

ACT 4 | THE MOMENT. Even when you’ve written your masterpiece, the world may never notice. But just after the doubt sinks in - the world changes. It’s a plane ticket from Kanye, a phone call from Rihanna’s team, a sudden surge of Soundcloud followers and suddenly, our songwriter has made it

ACT 3 | THEIR MIND. Just when it seems that the songwriter will succumb to their hardships: inspiration strikes. They create something new, brilliant - a huge leap forward from where they were before. This song seems like “the one.”

ACT 5 | ITS OWN LIFE. Again, featuring the artist). We see how a song goes from its very private, very personal origins to a new life on the charts, and at proms, weddings, and maybe even the Grammys.

ACT 6 | THE FUTURE. Back with the songwriter, we see the early sparks of new inspiration: new love, new hurt, new life. It’s a window into a hit song to come.

Approach

We plan to use VFX and unique in camera effects to bring each creative process to life visually as the songwriters and producers build sonically. Essentially, we will show the internalized process of the creator in an external way.

By tapping into the unique essence of our creatives, each episode will differ in feel depending on the subject, location and type of music they make. We plan to use an original score with curated VFX to demonstrate the internalized creative process of each subject.

The score will be all original, sonically intriguing and feel very custom to the series. It's important for everything about the show to feel like it's one of a kind to further reflect the uniqueness of the different writers and producers.

CREATORS NOTES
We are the songwriters and producers that live inside this world and are fascinated by the invisible space between creation and recognition. The period where artists are asked to continue believing in something before the world gives them evidence to.
This series is not about fame. It's about the underdog, its about being brave.
The stories that move us most are the ones where intuition outweighed logic. Where someone continued creating through silence, rejection, illness, poverty, or impossibility because something inside them knew the work mattered before anyone else did.
We want to explore the emotional, psychological, and sometimes spiritual reality of what it means to devote your life to creating something unseen. Not from the perspective of mythology after success, but from inside the uncertainty while it is happening.
We believe people are craving something real again.
Stories about obsession, conviction, sacrifice, and the unseen years before success. If that resonates with you , we’d love to continue the conversation.
